The 2010 YLI Mock Election!!!

On Friday, October 1st Mid-Term Madness hits the Youth Leadership Initiative with the release of YLI’s new website and the 2010 Mock Election.  Great new features promise to make the 2010 Mock Election YLI’s most successful.  Running from October 18-28th the YLI Mock Election will provide students the opportunity to participate in the most exciting mid-term elections in recent history.  YLI’s Mock Election ballot will contain races for governor, and the U.S. House and Senate.  Teachers will again have the opportunity to use YLI’s customization feature to add local races, referenda and school-wide elections emphasizing the importance of participating in our nation’s democracy.  The new interface will make the customization feature easier to use.

More than a day of voting, the YLI Mock Election is supported by many rigorous, teacher-developed lesson plans and an online political ideology survey. Students in states with gubernatorial races can use YLI’s Comparing the Candidates lesson plans to see where they fall on the ideological spectrum.  The YLI Mock Election should be an integral part of any school’s civics education program.  Participation in the Mock Election is FREE of charge to schools registered with the Youth Leadership Initiative.
