: A presidential election between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton never happened. But what if it did? This lesson will instruct students on the birth of political parties by having them simulate an early political rally and determine whether or not they would vote for Thomas Jefferson or Alexander Hamilton in a fictional presidential election. Students will analyze Washington’s Farewell Address and his advice regarding political parties. Students will discuss reasons why political parties formed and their role in current times. Use this lesson to prepare for the YLI 2025 Online National Election between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton.
